Dr. Vincent Adejumo provides a powerful overview of the origins of the Black Seminoles of Florida, their impact in the Seminole Wars, and their legacy after being exiled from Florida. The Black Seminoles are a group of African Americans, Native Americans and Seminoles of mixed-race descent. Their history in Florida dates back to the 18th century when African slaves began to escape from plantations and join the Seminole Nation. [...]
