DESCRIPTION:This 24-month program provides the opportunity for the city to embark on efforts to close the racial gap in homeownership by revealing historical patterns of discrimination that may lead to racial inequalities. As of 2020\, the homeownership rate for Black residents in West Palm Beach is still much lower than white homeownership rates at 40.3% compared to 56.7%. As a participant of Closing the Gap the city will identify and implement strategies to reduce these racial disparities in homeownership.

DESCRIPTION:The City of Delray Beach will host a public input meeting regarding its 2024 Disparity Study at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday\, May 9\, 2024 at the Delray Beach Golf Club located at 2200 Highland Avenue in Delray Beach. All members of the public are invited to participate however\, the City is particularly interested in hearing from minority and women-owned businesses at this meeting. \n  \nIn 2023\, the City engaged Keen Independent Research to conduct a Disparity Study. The disparity study will provide data about marketplace conditions and any disparities in City contracts\, as well as insights from business owners and other groups. It will be completed in Summer of 2024.
