SUMMARY:West Palm Beach Information and Events Happenings
DESCRIPTION:National Hispanic Heritage Month Proclamation\n“During this week’s City Commission Meeting\, the City Commissioners and I were honored to recognize outstanding community leaders with Hispanic Heritage Honoree proclamations in honor of their leadership\, service\, and impact on our community. \nThese honorees represent the strength\, resilience\, and excellence of Hispanic heritage here in West Palm Beach. \nNational Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the rich history\, diverse cultures\, and countless contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans — with roots in Central and South America\, the Caribbean\, Spain\, and beyond — whose perseverance\, achievements\, and leadership have helped shape every sector of our society. \nHere in West Palm Beach\, my administration and I remain committed to building a Community of Opportunity for All\, where every resident — including our Hispanic and Latino neighbors — has the opportunity to pursue and achieve their dreams. \nHispanic heritage is not only part of our history; it is a living and evolving legacy that connects generations\, strengthens our community\, and inspires continued progress. \nThe contributions of this year’s honorees help make our City a more inclusive\, diverse\, and dynamic community — and a stronger West Palm Beach for all of us.” \n— Mayor Keith A. James  \n \nHispanic Heritage Honoree Camila Salazar\n“I had the privilege of honoring Camila Salazar as a 2026 Hispanic Heritage Honoree. \nChef-Owner Camila Salazar and her husband\, Osmel González\, are the culinary team behind Emelina\, an intimate 16-seat restaurant in West Palm Beach that is reimagining Cuban cuisine through the lens of Florida’s seasons\, local ingredients and sustainable practices. \nChef Salazar\, a native of Medellín\, Colombia\, brings culinary and hospitality experience from across the United States\, Spain\, and South America\, including work in some of the country’s most acclaimed kitchens. Most recently\, she served as Chief Operating Officer of Michelin-starred EntreNos. \nTogether\, Salazar and González opened Emelina in West Palm Beach in February 2026 with a vision of honoring the memories and traditions of Cuban cuisine while exploring how those traditions can evolve through creativity\, seasonality\, and a strong connection to Florida. \nWithin months of opening\, Emelina earned a Michelin Star — making it the only Michelin-starred restaurant in West Palm Beach and\, notably\, the first Cuban restaurant in the world to receive the prestigious distinction. \nThrough Emelina\, Chef Salazar and her husband are bringing international culinary experience to West Palm Beach while celebrating Hispanic heritage\, elevating Cuban cuisine\, and contributing to the City’s growing reputation as a destination for exceptional dining.” — Mayor Keith A. James  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2026 City Commission Hispanic Heritage Honorees | Left to Right: Brandon Cabrera\, Camila Salazar\, Osmel González\, Jaime Lara\, Dr. Adriana Ortiz-Coffie\, CRNA\, DNAP\, and Edgar Ferreira \nCongratulations to Camila Salazar and all of the Hispanic Heritage Honorees! \n\nBrandon Cabrera was honored by Commission President Joe Peduzzi.\nJaime Lara was honored by Commissioner Christy Fox.\nDr. Adriana Ortiz-Coffie\, CRNA\, DNAP was honored by Commissioner Shalonda Warren.\nEdgar Ferreira was honored by Commissioner Stephen Sylvester.Watch the full Hispanic Heritage Honoree Ceremony here.\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nThe City of West Palm Beach Is Updating Its Downtown Master Plan\, and We Want to Hear From You!\nJoin us for a community open house to learn more about the DMPU\, ask questions\, and share your feedback on the future of Downtown West Palm Beach. \nFollowing a brief introduction\, attendees can visit topic-specific stations\, speak directly with City staff and the project team\, and provide input on the issues that matter most to our community. \nTuesday\, October 6 | 6–8 p.m. | Flagler Gallery \nStop by\, join the conversation\, and help inform the next chapter of Downtown West Palm Beach. \nVisit wpb.org/DMPU to learn more!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWPB-TV\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPower of Parks | Osprey Park in West Palm Beach\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA local park is a community’s living room\, where neighbors become friends and nature shakes hands with busy streets.
