Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies is partially funded by property tax through Children’s Services Council. Thank you, residents!

A Note from the CEO

October marks the beginning of a new fiscal year for HMHB, one of my favorite annual milestones for our agency. It’s a time for reflection on the past year, a renewed commitment to our mission, and an opportunity to set new goals for the future.

As we enter the final months of our 40th anniversary year, we have much to celebrate. This past year brought a record breaking Moments luncheon, the launch of our first endowment, community awards recognizing staff achievements, new volunteers and funders, enhancements across programs and operations, and clean audits and accreditation renewals at the highest level. We embrace all the wins, both large and small.

As one year closes and another begins, this moment feels especially important. Across our community, significant challenges demand our attention. We continue to navigate an ever-evolving maternal health landscape while also addressing a proposed property tax amendment that could drastically reduce funding for some of our community’s most effective and impactful programs.

At HMHB, we believe every family deserves access to the support, education, and resources needed for a healthy perinatal period and birth. Fulfilling that mission requires more than direct service. It requires advocacy, partnership and a strong voice in support of the programs and funding that make this work possible.

A reduction in property tax funding would have far-reaching consequences for our nonprofit community. Click here to learn more.

Organizations like HMHB rely on and partner with special taxing districts including Children’s Services Council to serve local families. CSC is a voter approved entity established in 1986 and was reaffirmed by voters in 2014, demonstrating our community’s longstanding commitment to investing in children and families with a coordinated system of care.

HMHB is proud to be an entry point into that system, connecting women and families to early and consistent perinatal care, education and social support services. We are just one of hundreds of organizations working together to strengthen lives and improve outcomes across Palm Beach County.

We encourage you to learn more about how HMHB is funded in part through your property taxes and to better understand the potential impact these proposed changes could have on services that thousands of families depend on every day.

A new fiscal year does not mean we slow down. It means we begin again with renewed purpose and determination. It is an opportunity to embrace new possibilities, achieve meaningful outcomes and celebrate every success along the way.

On behalf of our entire team, thank you for being part of this journey. We are grateful for your support and look forward to continuing this important work together in the year ahead.

Passing the Gavel

With deepest gratitude, we thank Katrina Long-Robinson of Cornerstone Solutions who has served as Board Chair for the last two years. Katrina has led us as we created a new office space, imagined new strategic goals, grew our team, and celebrated 40 years of service. Katrina is rolling into the Immediate Past Chair role, and we are so grateful to her for sharing her time, expertise, and guidance with our community.

As of October 1, Jeffrey Fine of iTHINK Financial has entered the position of Board Chair, while Community Advocate, Daniel Lehrhoff will serve as Vice Chair. Allison Taylor of Deloitte is stepping into the role of Treasurer, while Amber Bautz is continuing her long-standing position as Secretary. These individuals have been outstanding advocates of our mission for years, show a great understanding of our mission, and consistently go above and beyond to bolster services for the families we serve.

We look forward to continuing our work, improving our programs, and growing our mission with these dynamic leaders at the helm of HMHB.

Growing and Perfecting Our Practices

At the start of FY25-26, we launched a new three year strategic plan focused on fine-tuning our mission with three main goals: improve the quality of maternal health programming, drive engagement and awareness of HMHB, and strengthen operational practices.

Over the past year, we:

  • Began offering mental health screenings for new moms in pediatric offices
  • Started meaningful conversations with local stakeholders to identify barriers for women accessing care
  • Launched a year-long campaign to celebrate our 40th anniversary
  • Grew our development staff and started efforts to diversify and increase funding
  • Offered monthly opportunities for our team to engage with each other and invest time in team building
  • Made staffing adjustments to allow our offices to function smoothly, allowing better client experience
  • Launched a 5 year, $5M endowment campaign
