We will be hosting a very exciting event on May 16th at 6:00 p.m. Please join us for a performance be the brilliant dancer, Clarence Brooks. Clarence will perform and give a lecture that marries art, history, justice, and reconciliation. He will perform Talley Beatty’s poignant signature solo “Mourner’s Bench” (1947) followed by a lecture on the importance of this work to local and national history. This performance honors the memories of Samuel Nelson and Henry Simmons, two of the known victims of lynching in Palm Beach County. In 2019, the Library of Congress recorded his rendition of this tour de force piece for the national archives.
